MPH vs. ET

Just a quick question....

You hear someone running, say... 14.50 at 100...

OK... obviously... Bad start... spinning, not boosted, whatever.

But when I was looking and thinking about my time I ran, I realized it's kinda opposite...

15.45 @ 85

Does that seem right? In the calculator, 15.45 e/t gives more HP for a given weight, and 85mph gives less for the same weight.

How does that work? Is it just that the truck falls off so badly on the top end?

Sorry for the stupid questions... Just trying to make sure of my hypothesis.

Generally speakin 4wd run faster times for a given mph than a 2wd does, i believe the calculators are made for 2wd but i might be wrong

My truck says the same, ET is like 600 hp trap speed is around 580 or so.

Which is more accurate? Hopefully E/T! LOL

Trap speed...

Trap speed stays pretty close to the same regaurdless what happens as far as spinning lighting ect ect

Traction, turbo spool up, all play a huge factor in the E/T

First time i went down the track i ran 14.80 at 96mph
by the end of the night i ran 13.8 at 96mph... just as an example

Thanks guys!

One more question. If I ran 2wd, I could probably run a higher MPH right?

Were you on stock tires? I don't feel like my 1/4 times are accurate because my truck doesn't pull very hard after shifting into OD just after the 1/8 mile.

Your et and trap seem about what they should be compared to one another imo

Trap is usually more accurate.

I agree.
Take my run last year for instance. A little BMW 2 door staged beside me. Evidently he couldn't drive very well because he didn't pass me until just past the finish lights. I trapped about my usual 78-80mph, and he was about 110mph IIRC. I think he was burning the tires every time he shifted (manual). My time was about 16.3.-16.6, he was within .010 of my time.
