t.land 10-27-2009, 12:44 AM This hitch, made by UTP, came on my truck when I bought it 3 months ago. Tonight I finally got around to looking it up. Its a proximity hitch, and extends and slides from side to side by the use of 2 levers to get closer to the trailer. It has springs underneath the truck to absorb shock, so the truck didnt come with a spare. Its a Class IV hitch, and I am generally pulling my 10,000 lb rated skidsteer trailer (generally with more than 10,000 lbs). just wondering if i should get rid of this thing and get a class V for both safety and pulling capacity, I dont really trust it. thanks in advance for your replies.
crowz 10-27-2009, 01:03 AM Never had heard of it so I went and looked it up. Cool concept :D
I couldnt find a single post on the net with someone complaining about it. That usually means its either not used or is a good product.
I found people posting about owning one but not a single complaint. So Id say its a good bet to being a decent hitch. Sorry I dont know more about it than that.
t.land 10-27-2009, 03:18 AM yeah the hitch works just fine, doesnt really "pop" back into place like they say. I had a 5 ton load of gravel on the empty weight of 2,000 lb trailer and the receiver just sat sideways the whole time, but nothing bad happened. just dont like the idea of not having a spare tire and lots of pieces holding the hitch together
Clint_FX4_TxBoy 10-27-2009, 03:32 AM Seems to be made for people who have trouble backing straight up to a trailer?
t.land 10-27-2009, 12:21 PM hahaha yeah thats what i think about the hitch. i can handle backing up to a trailer, and dont like looking like an idiot with this hitch
big_stroker 10-27-2009, 12:31 PM How about some pics... Sounds like a DMI farm bumper to me. They are made to pull out and slid around so it makes it easier to hook to spreader boxes and stuff like that that you put a pin threw.
TrailerHauler 10-28-2009, 02:22 AM If its sloppy, and/or your not comfortable with it get one you are comfortable with so you don't have to worry.
I want to see this thing to, never heard of it.

Yeah. We have them on all of our farm vehicles, yall crack jokes about backing up straight to a trailer, but when its dark, and you are by yourself, they are so damn nice! lol And yeah, the spring helps when you go to stop and start. They really are nice to have.

crowz 10-28-2009, 05:47 AM I dont think Id want to give up my spare tire to have one but if I didnt have the reverse camera Id might look into getting one.
fordtrucksrule7 10-29-2009, 06:19 PM looks alot like a drawbar on a tractor
Dieselgeek 10-31-2009, 03:48 AM Most farm trucks have them around here. Boss has one, and he has towed everything from a lawn mower, to a 40k lb wagon, to a 15 yard scraper, to pulling a wheel loader down the road, etc, etc. They are truly handy to have, and I wouldn't feel the least bit unsafe in towing 10k with one. If you want to get rid of it, let me know, and I'll buy it from you...
Steamfighter 11-05-2009, 11:08 PM You can get a 16k class iv or a 16-18 k class v look at hitchweb.net . Real easy site to nav and good prices too.
t.land 11-05-2009, 11:56 PM alright Ill check that out, thanks
