broncof250444 09-25-2009, 05:52 AM Test drove the new F150 Raptor and the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO that we just got in today.
Raptor was cool, had good bottom end power with the low gears and very stiff suspension and lots of other goodies to play with ( electric locking diff, lights, and other off road enchancement buttons)
The SHO was my favorite, that thing is as fast! I think my truck would have a problem lining up with it, lol. Awesome handing, accel, AWD, Twin Turbo's, very quiet and comfortable and also lots of goodies to play with. (I think i need one!):ford:
I think imports should be a little scared, while on the test drive with the SHO a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer started to jack with me, i blew him off for miles then we stopped at a red light. The EVO driver hollaring out the window and reving it up, i took the offer! Light turn green and the SHO had pulled it so hard out of the hole we came ahead about 2 car links before he could even somewhat stay with me, i let off at 90 mph he was back about 5 links now. Stop at the next light he hollar again "whats that thing got" i stated stock twin turbos and drove off with his jaw hanging down.
iirc the SHO is good for a mid 13 quater mile pass.
Dzchey21 09-25-2009, 05:56 AM Thats tight, they are good looking cars, if i had to drive a car thats what i would want, pretty sweet glad to hear a report from a truck enthusiast.
Wonder what the 1/4 mile times are for sure i heard 13s anyone got any proof?
farm boy 09-25-2009, 12:07 PM I saw the SHO on a commercial last night. I cant believe they put twin turbos on a Ford Taurus. Guess its not a grandma car anymore.
daryl4412 09-25-2009, 01:07 PM I think its awesome and to add to that fact its probably faster than the new GT mustangs haha. Definately way more comfortable!
I looked at a Raptor at the local dealership. Pretty cool looking truck. I was impressed by the interior as well. Don't really care for the graphics and I don't know about all those LEDs i guess i'd have to see them at night.... 47k is alot for a F150 of any kind haha
imelmo 09-25-2009, 01:46 PM Iirc they're supposed to come out with a Boss Raptor or something like that shortly with a stronger motor.
Good to hear about the SHO, I keep reading about how awesome a car it is.
sick97psd1 09-25-2009, 01:53 PM I really like the design of the new Taurus, I hope it works for Ford! If I was to buy a new car it would be the SHO fo sho!!!
!!!PainTrain!!! 09-25-2009, 01:55 PM So you took a car from the dealership, ragged on it, then took it back?
sweet
jdc753 09-25-2009, 02:25 PM thats awesome to hear. I have always been a fan of fast 4 door cars and good to hear Ford is bringing back the SHO
mattr66 09-25-2009, 02:33 PM I have a friend that used to have a black SHO back when Yamaha made the v6 motors for them. That car would cruise at 140 all day long and was so freaking smooth.
Abrannan19 09-25-2009, 03:03 PM the SHO is going to be bad ass, with a tuner on it..its gonna be sick..and you will be able to see major gains with the direct injection setup and twin turbos..I am stoked about it..they are gonna respond to a tuner like a 6.0 does!(less the blowing headgaskets parts LMAO)
blackwaterstroker 09-25-2009, 04:44 PM I love those new SHO's Raptors look sweet too.
broncof250444 10-02-2009, 05:24 AM So you took a car from the dealership, ragged on it, then took it back?

I am the head Diesel Tech for my Ford dealership, so any new vehicles off the convoy i will go for a joy ride!:D
We are a Roush, Shelby and SVT dealer. We normally have 1 or 2 Ford GT in the shop a week for normal service, at least 1 Roush and/or Shelby a day come in. We run about 250 Powerstroke's a month threw the door a month on average.
But yeah when the Shelby GT500 KR came in those were a sweet ride if you know what i mean, i thought about heading to Mexico with it. I didnt want to give it back!
Clint_FX4_TxBoy 10-02-2009, 05:31 AM I LOVE the SHO. Everytime I see a commercial for them or hear about them my pants get a littler tighter!
oldfordisbetter 10-11-2009, 07:28 PM would love to put the sho motor in my falcon...blow all these v8's around me away
crowz 10-11-2009, 07:31 PM would love to put the sho motor in my falcon...blow all these v8's around me away
Im guessing you've got one of the 6 cyl ones? My falcon came with a 302 v8 in it.
kurtfromct 10-13-2009, 02:54 AM i saw 0-60 in 6.07 and 1/4 mile in 14.77 on ford's website. they have a video of the SHO vs a V-8 Audi a6. the 1/4 mile seems slow in this test

yea 1966 falcon futura 200 inline 6 all stock was a grandma car in town. bought it for a song a year ago..

I'd had it sitting up in a barn for 18 years and took these pics right after bring it out. Cranked right up and I made that sound clip of it :D
1970 falcon futura 302 v8 3speed on the column 5:something gears all factory. With the rear end its got I bet it would out pull my superduty if you could get traction enough.
Grandfather ordered it new and passed it on to me. In the process of restoring it now. According to the falcon registry its 1 of 1.
bbbxcursion 10-15-2009, 04:18 AM The SHO is responding very well to tuning. It's a whole new ball game.
mandkole 10-15-2009, 02:40 PM I had a lightly modded 89 SHO for 8 years and this has me excited enough to finally look at another one. The new Taurus is a much better car--even the standard one runs/works good.
Guys are already in the mid-12s @ 106-107 with minor tuning, stock exhaust. With AWD, this thing is going to rip. Like all new models, you can't find one at below list.
YouTube - 2010 SHO
scarlet_nape 10-15-2009, 03:24 PM The only thing that could hurt the SHO is the list price. It's showing about $5K+($37,170) more than a GT (About $32-ish). Not sure how many buyers will line up for that, unless the #s are really that much better than it's competitors. We'll see. Love the idea of a 4-door that is really fast!
Tom S 10-15-2009, 10:04 PM Dang might have to rethink the Impala SS I was considering.
Tom
nchappy 10-15-2009, 10:22 PM evo should still beat the sho, 0-60 or 1/4
maybe it was a lancer, not an evo?
mandkole 10-16-2009, 01:17 AM Tom, I beat on an SS for a few days in Detroit about 6 mos ago. A brand new Avis rental with about 3K on the clock. Blazed the hides more than once. (in fact, I took them up 20 ft from the checkpoint at the border going to Windsor:evil) It sounded just bitchin and drove nice when you were law abiding, but I could not get over the torque steer--especially on a torn up road. This thing was all over the place.
I tell ya, after owning an A4 (although the underpowered 1.8T version), the AWD is the bomb. I'm not counting on Ferd's version to compare to the quattro, but I'm sure it will be lightyears better than the front drive program on the impala.
The wife's business lease is up in Feb09, we're beginning to look at the SHO this weekend...
broncof250444 10-20-2009, 02:47 AM evo should still beat the sho, 0-60 or 1/4
maybe it was a lancer, not an evo?
I have never seen a evo or lancer let break into the 13 in the 1/4 mile, unless they had some mods.
nchappy 10-20-2009, 03:19 AM newer, slower 2008+ models
0-60 mph 5.3 sec
Quarter mile 13.9 sec @ 99.4 mph
previous model 0-60 was under 5 sec
broncof250444 10-20-2009, 04:29 AM Ford SHO
0-60 mph 5.2 sec
1/4 mile 13.6@103 mph
broncof250444 10-20-2009, 04:35 AM Thats with better MPG, more room and DRIVING A AMERICAN CAR!!!! Just cant beat that!
nchappy 10-20-2009, 02:26 PM pretty bold statement for a vehicle barely into the market.
the evo has proven itself across the globe for over a decade.
don't start the the "american made" debate without posting manufacturing info.
broncof250444 10-20-2009, 03:48 PM The SHO is design, engineered, and built in the United States. Though i see where you are coming from that parts are made from Mexico and overseas, but that is just a thing of today i dont agree with it either!
obs stroker 10-27-2009, 02:14 AM Thats with better MPG, more room and DRIVING A AMERICAN CAR!!!! Just cant beat that!
AMEN!

This is exactly why I would never take a car like that to the dealer. Of course if I could afford one I could afford to work on it myself and I wouldn't have to worry about some tech out fartin in my seat and raggin on my car:poke:
broncof250444 11-04-2009, 06:02 AM Most of are customers that purchase these cars from us are rich farm boys that store them in the barns, they bring them in for services and the dealership has us lead tech's drive the cars. I have been told many of times by the customer on all most every car that has came in for service to go and drive the hell out of it and make sure they are running to spec!:ford:
One of the Dr. that owns a 2005 Ford GT with some mods done to it had me drive the car with him in it, he told me to get on it so i did to about a 100 mph. He chewed me out! He stated "if i was only going to go only a 100 i would have brought a Focus", he said "now get on it"!!! About 170 mph i backed out of it, he then said "thats a little better, but you still drive like a little school girl".
nchappy 11-24-2009, 04:20 PM http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/1209_ct_2010-Taurus-SHO-vs-Lancer-Evo_chart.pdf

sho limited to 131mph
LOL

HeeHaw 11-25-2009, 12:13 AM American made, the money stays in America thats good enough for me

whether the car is gay or not... that is still pretty impressive i must say. i would never buy one but that is not bad for a full interior. id still take a sho in a heartbeat of that jap crap
nchappy 11-25-2009, 12:46 PM I think some one is queer for EVO's:eek:
i think someone is queer for the slower car
whats worse?
jk
my first car was a 1991 mitsubishi eclipse turbo awd
been an evo fan for over a decde...
mandkole 11-25-2009, 05:18 PM outside similarity that the sho has 4 doors and turbo'd like the evo, it was likely never intended to compete with the evo..... for me, I wouldn't be saying sho and evo in the same sentence. apples and oranges
Raul@stealth-automotive 11-25-2009, 05:30 PM the SHO is pretty bad ass.... they had some nice ones at SEMA this year... if my girl hadnt leased a darn camry i would of told her to get this car lol...

closer then apples and oranges when road and track does a comparison test

Might be a slower car off the show room floor, but there is more displacment to work with in the sho.
By the way doesnt matter what the window sticker says its a Ford and its American, parts can be built else where but Ford still designs, engineers and builds in America.
ericlouie1 11-27-2009, 01:16 AM Looks cool, but i wonder how durable the driveline is.
BTW, my other car is a 91 Eagle talon, with a turbo that puts my 250's to shame.lol
bbbxcursion 11-27-2009, 02:06 AM I love the SHO but an AMS evo will destroy all.
