Thanks Greg!

If i could of gotten my 60ft down some down on my last pass.... i might of seen a 7.1 -7.2 which would probably put me somewhere around a 11.2 in the 1/4 mile.

Also bottle pressures were only around 800 psi. I need a bottle heater. Hopefully i will get some more track time soon and keep steeping up the jet sizes.....I have a feeling that the ts 2 stage kit isnt going to be enough.

The TS kit can actually be configured for 3 stages. Give 'em a call and they'll send what you need and give the wiring diagram for the control box.

I had 1 on my 6.0. Only issue I know of on the 6.0's is people tying into the falling voltage TPS wire (5v-0v) instead of the rising output wire. (0v-5v). Had 0 issues with mine. From the looks of the NX and the NOS launcher, they are both made by the same company with different stickers anyway.

the NX kit i had on my 7.3 was incredibly easy to tune, easy to install, and i never had an issue, ever. it probaly kept my motor alive much longer than if i woulda not had a progressive kit.

so with the 6.0 its the rising voltage TPS wire?? if thats the case, maybe you should call NX, i know a lot of 6.0 guys could never get an answer, perhaps NX didnt even know.

SINNER
09-15-2009, 05:04 PM
It's not a "sprag problem", it is a spragless convertor. A sprag is basically a 1 way clutch in the normal style convertor but it has problems when a vehice loses and regains traction. Once damaged it will cause your 60' times to be all over the place.

Number of passes is what matters. A converter could be in a truck for 5 years if it only makes 10 passes a year.

all converters die. JW (TCS) or BTS (PI) are both proven. lots of those will still die when enough power is applied. some folks should just stop expecting them to live..because none will.

I can only get about 6 psi with my PI. I'll have to watch tach next time to see stall. Best 60' is around 2.1. I know this injector/turbo combo can go well over 20 psi to spool in another truck, so I'm really leaning toward converter, and several others have told me the same thing...

Dang, I thought PI was a good choice...

I was wondering how many passes Zane was getting out of his Precision converters. In case you forgot what I asked.

Brian had mentioned having poor luck with the PI unit, and you stated that Zane had good luck with them in the white truck. Well some numbers would be useful. Average number of passes on a converter before failure or preemptive removal would be a good measuring stick.

Bingo!! Convertors are just another consumable like tires. For the life of me I can not figure out why in diesel motorsports people think parts should last forever. Pick any gasser car under 10 seconds at the track and the owner more than likely has 1-2 spare convertors with him. But guys with 7k lb. trucks and 1200 ft. lbs think they should last for 75,000 miles.

Yep. Got the tranny from Mike and the convertor either was already bad, or went bad quick. Wouldnt build boost. John Wood took good care of me though (as did Swamps on the labor end). It now has a brand new spragless convertor and a 5r100 OD planetary.
