So we went to the desert w the trailer for Easter, and I noticed that my AC would not blow cold while the truck was under a load. I was doing 65-70 so there was plenty of air flow. I'm sure that the IC and rad were putting out some heat, but I didn't think it would affect the AC as much as it did. Has anybody else noticed this? If so what did you do to keep the AC cooler?
I also noticed how the heat was coming through the floor. I have two layers of Dmat, but I guess I need more.

The problem is more serious than you are expecting it to be. You have a gasoline engine.

Was your cooling fan clutch engaged and pulling air? If not that might be something to look at. Even at highway speeds my clutch will lock up when I am hot and pull air.
The fan clutch was on. I could hear it. Just seems like the condenser wasn't keeping up.

Is the condenser packed full of dirt and dust?

If your truck was running hot that could be a potential problem. The AC runs right past the heater core that the coolant runs through.

Goood point. I will check the rad and condenser tomorrow.

I did have an issue w/ the truck getting hot last summer while towing. The gauge did not move this trip though.

Happened to mine, I pulled the intercooler and radiator. I couldn't believe all the dirt, leaves, crap in between everything blocking the airflow. After a good cleaning all was well, EGTS down, water temp down, and AC worked.

You also should know that when the truck is at wide open throttle or close to it, the PCM will turn off the AC clutch. Just on more thing to give you more power.
