Soon as I get the ITP Reg. Return on the engine it will be ready to go in. I'm going to pull the front off as I will be installing an '06 front and Alien Patrol bumper.
Do you guys have any pointers/suggestions as to the best way to perform this?
Also what is the Ford part # for the sealant to use on cover plate for the Hpop gear?
Thanks,
Greg

pull the rad support off, there are only 8 bolts holding it in place. If your truck is stock height (or you have a tall cherry picker) you can leave the condenser in place, but the IC and Rad will have to come out. The AC Comp can be set off on the pass side fender so you don't have to crack the AC system open. . .that'll save you a recharge. Mount the engine mounts and plates onto the motor before dropping it in. Make sure to leave the fan off until its all in, bolted down, and running well. . .you can even drive it on the street for a while to make sure everythings taken care of. . .it's a real pain to get in and out of there. . .oh, and the shroud goes on BEFORE the fan goes in . Other than that, it's pretty straight foreward. You'll need an extra set of eyes and hands to get the engine located back up w/the tranny, and an extra set of hands comes in handy to bolt the engine into place so it doesn't slide foreward and loose its engagement with the tranny . While you have it out, the bung that the dip stick goes through. . .pull the nut off CAREFULLY and put some of the special ford sealant on the pan around it, then put the nut back on. . .this will eliminate the possibility of an oil leak from here. . .and it's easier w/the engine out . That's about it, it's a pretty straight foreward deal. . .pulling the core support really makes it an easy deal, just forward and up and she's out.

Just got done with mine. Do exactly what Trick said. I didnt take my Rad. support off but I also used a overhead hoist. If I were to do it again I think I would pull it out. Trans was alittle tricky, i put a bottle jack under the front housing and angled it at the same angle the engine was hanging did take alittle man handling to get it locked in. I would definitely have some one there with you, much easier with two people.

What is the best engine hoist to use? Some of them I wouldn't trust to lift my dog!

Got one from Summit rated at 2000 lbs, and less than 200 bucks.

I think the book time for R&R is about 25 hrs.. How long did it take you? If you done one or two I'm sure you can shave a little time off that.

Is it htat much harder than pulling any other engine. I can have a SBC on the stand in two hours.

Yeah when my 55 chevy still had a little block in it you could just about reach in there and scoup it out of there.

took me about 10hrs to get it out, getting it back in doesn't count cause i had so much stuff that was new to go back in. . .it was a fitment nightmare! I also took the entire front end off so that added some time to my process.
