Mercon sp in transfer case instead of Mercon V

Is mercon sp an acceptable synthetic for use in the transfer case of an 06 superduty psd 4X4, or would an aftermarket synthetic, substitute like Mobil, or Amsoil ATF be a better choice for the transfer case? I thought it would be easy to service with the mercon sp because I service the transfer case at the same time I service the transmission (Torqueshift).

I dont think you can swap the two in the transfer case (I may be wrong). I use royel purple syncromax in mine.
