Well that sucks what happend to it.

No it was out till they raised the hood. Had it running after it cooled off. Don't know for sure yet but speculate a cracked piston. The oil cap was MIA and oil was everywhere.

Damn that that is a whole lot of fire coming from under that truck.

hate to say it, but i am about to spend the well worth 500$ or more and put halon system in, 2 nozzles on motor and 2 for driver

500 is a lot cheaper than a new truck.

You said 2 for the driver, you do realize Halon will kill you, it absorbs all the oxygen very rapidly, if it gets to you lungs your dead in 5 seconds.. Your best bet is to keep it on the motor and get a fire suit

It doesnt absorb Oxygen, it displaces it. As long as you have a window down, and get out quick you'll be fine. And, no , it wont kill you after five seconds. Takes more like a couple of minutes without Oxygen to pass out, then after four or five your brain starts leaving this world. The halon itself wont kill you. The lack of Oxygen will.

Once you get it into you lungs you start to sufficate

I got a question, if Halon displaces oxygen to put out a fire, how does it work in an open environment, such as under the hood?

I can see it working inside the cab, although you would have to have the doors shut and in which case you couldn't breathe.

Well, its not like it has to keep the O2 gone forever. Just long enough to put out the fire. The hood and fenders will confine it enough to keep the halon in somewhat. Ever opened the hood of a burning truck? What happened? Didnt it flare up pretty good? The Oxygen rushed in when the hood was opened and fed the fire. Same with the halon, long as the hood is closed it will flood the area with halon, and push out all (most) of the oxygen and hopefully put out the fire. Inside the cab, same deal. Just dont forget to get out! I dont know of any pullers that are going to be running 55 to 60 mph, so getting stopped and out should not be a problem.

halon is basicaly to get the vehicle stoped and you out then a real exntiqusger to put it out
