One and only time ever out on the big pond. Went 12 miles out, Siesta Key, FL. It sucked, didn't catch much. I prefer wading to it. Dragging in something that has teeth while you're submerged waste deep, with shrimp tied to ya, now that's fishing. Not to mention the 3 foot black tips circling around you. I lived in Florida for 10 months during 02, haven't fished since then. Just not the same as salt water.
