txpsd 07-05-2008, 06:02 PM Hey all,
I just dropped my truck off at Ryan Bean's place in Tennessee to have a CR cummins put in. Bean seems like a very nice, stand up guy. Haha seemed kind of quiet, but I did manage to get a smile outta him. Anyways, my goal is like 650-700 HP range. I'll keep ya'll updated as I hear things from Bean, but just thought I'd post up my plans. Thanks again Bean!

fxdwgi 07-05-2008, 06:22 PM Sweet !!! Keep us posted with pics, as I am thinking of doing the same next year.
txpsd 07-05-2008, 06:44 PM Will do! Haha no regrets so far.
Ya thats me, kinda quiet. Was good to meet ya and your truck is in good hands. We will have a dyno by the time your truck is done so it will go back to you with a dyno sheet as well. It will be a fun build for sure, cant wait to get into it!
txpsd 07-05-2008, 11:40 PM I hope that didn't come out wrong, I mean I only talked to ya for like 10 mins so what do I know . Again thank you for your help Bean, and I look forward to seeing what you can do!
No offense taken, you accually hit the nail on the head I am very laid back and quiet most of the time. But you didnt get to hang out long. Maby next time we meet up I can buy ya a brew. :D
txpsd 07-05-2008, 11:52 PM Haha, I was just telling my Dad when we come back up we're bringing a case along with us. Which reminds me what's your brew of choice? :D
Deputydog 07-06-2008, 12:01 AM I'm jealous! Which version of the Cummins are you getting?
txpsd 07-06-2008, 12:19 AM I'm throwing in an 03-04 CR cummins with around 45K on it.
UNBROKEN 07-06-2008, 02:17 AM Good choice in shops...Bean will do ya right.
txpsd 07-06-2008, 03:26 AM I can't wait to see yours done. Haha coors will be a step up for me, seeing as I only drink keystone 16$ for 30. I'll be sure to get ya a case on my way back up!
Rockrunner86 07-06-2008, 05:04 AM I would like to know what a full CR swap into a 6 speed truck runs.... Hint Hint.. BEAN?
Joedog 07-06-2008, 03:22 PM I would be curious to know as well.......:D

There are so many variables its hard to put a definete price on it but w/o the price of an engine you would be looking at close to 10g to swap in a cr motor paying me to do it. Then you have the engine and whatever performance mods you want to get done to it. The good news is you can just buy a Smarty for 685.00 and have over 400hp with everything else stock and you will have a bottom end thats already 1000hp capable. :poke:

**not DockBoy compatible**
:D
Theres always an exception to the rule LOL.
txpsd 07-08-2008, 02:47 AM LOL poor Greg.
aggie 07-08-2008, 04:04 AM we put Smarty Beta 4.2 (before they went revo/tnt) on a couple trucks with the FASS, Trans, and turbo to hold it and they consistently put down 500-525 and run 13.0s-13.3s in teh quarter.
TrailerHauler 07-08-2008, 06:14 AM I want one, I just can't decide to do a swap or go with a POS dodge. I would know what I want if my truck was a crew cab, and that would be a swap!
PowerstrokeJunkie 07-12-2008, 08:24 PM What are your planned mods to the engine to produce the power you want? Big and laggy single with lots of fuel or a nice set of smaller matched compounds for daily driving?
flux 4's and a 300/400 set of twins. Should be very capable of 800 hp and very responsive.
UNBROKEN 07-14-2008, 01:55 AM What's the HP "rating" of the Flux 4's, Ryan?
Never have figured out where those numbers fall in when everyone else calls it a 90, 110, 150 horse injector or whatever.
389SixPack 07-14-2008, 02:00 AM Ryan, just looking for a ROM, but from the time a truck is dropped off, about how long does a conversion take?
PowerstrokeJunkie 07-14-2008, 03:40 AM I believe flux 4's are considered a 150ish horse injector, needs twin CP3's for something like that. When i do this i was planning on doing flux 3's for streetability, and maybe like a PS64 over an S400 something for an easy 750hp on "fuel only" :pointlaugh:
txpsd 07-14-2008, 04:00 AM I think we are going to run a stage 3 cp3 from Floor it.
Cascade 07-14-2008, 05:42 AM Why? Why not just run a couple stock CP3's? The difference in price is less than the towing bill home when that one over build pump goes TU.

Flux 4's are a 200hp+ injector. Look here F1 Diesel (http://www.f1diesel.com/injectorsecho.html)

That all depends, mostly on planning. If you can not have the truck down for long then we will need to aquire the engine, all of the parts, build the engine however you want it done and makes sure everything is here before you bring it in. if everything is here and waiting I still allow a month to get it done. Even then we can run into snags and it take longer, the last one I did I am still waiting on some custom parts to send to the customer whenever they get done.
If you bring a truck and just drop it off and say do it it will al depend on what you want done and how long it takes to gather the parts needed for the build. Could be two months could be as much as 8 months or more for a very big build.
Why? Why not just run a couple stock CP3's? The difference in price is less than the towing bill home when that one over build pump goes TU.
About a 500.00 savings over duals, when on a budget 500 means quite abit.
txpsd 07-14-2008, 02:50 PM 8 months would blow ! I did do some planing before I dropped my truck off, but again we still had to order the parts after I dropped the truck off. I don't know whats been ordered and what hasn't, but I gave the go ahead to order what needs to be ordered. Only time will tell how long this build will take. :D
Cat_Rebel 07-14-2008, 05:20 PM How much more work would it be to just run dual CP3 pumps over a big single?
Not much more work, probably 3 more hrs of work.
jtharvey 07-14-2008, 05:51 PM When I decide to upgrade the CP3, I can tell you for sure that I'm running duals, not a big single.
Cat_Rebel 07-14-2008, 05:52 PM What about cost wise of a single to duals?
Or does it depend what your needs are on the build?
I just see alot of people running duals in the 5.9 & the 6.6L.
UNBROKEN 07-14-2008, 08:00 PM I can see 8 months happening no problem. Mine has taken way longer than that and a lot of it was just trying to get parts that I thought were a phone call away.
Simple things like getting a custom cam shipped took over a month.

Has it been fired yet?
txpsd 07-14-2008, 08:53 PM I know it can take a lot longer than planned, but I just couldn't afford to have my truck down for near that long. I want to try and stay on top of the parts people as best I can in order in ensure they are getting things out in a timely fasion, but I also don't want to be an #######. Hopefully it gets done sooner than later.

A Floor It Stage III single goes for 1400.00. The Evil Twins go for 1600.00 plus the cost of your second cp3. Pumps can be had for as little as 300.00 or as much as 700.00 for a new one. I've bought several brand new pumps on ebay for under 500.00, you just need to keep looking. You can use any Cummins or Duramax cp3 with the kit.
The Cummins guys are the only ones running modded pumps, the d-max guys pretty much all run duals. The best modded pump out there only flows about 45% over stock, can't even come close to duals. With the modded pumps the pressure still drops before it goes up to the desired pressure, with the duals the pressure just goes straight to whatever the ecm is calling for.

Ha, waited since last Nov on injs for a conversion project. Just got them last week.
txpsd 07-15-2008, 01:10 AM Holy #### Bean! That's rediculous! I hope we don't get screwed like that on this build
Thats why I want to get them dang injs sent off! Don was out of 03 style nozzles for a long time and has them in now but is still backed up. Sooner the better.

txpsd 07-15-2008, 04:15 AM That engine better get there by tomorrow, otherwise I'm gonna flip some ####!
