Most people will shoot them down, no opinion myself... but I'll need a rebuild someday and wonder what direction to go from time to time :)

Not a chance they're even close to 500hp let alone 400hp.

Stock turbo with upgrades. Your lucky to make 350 at the ground.

Nothing agaisnt the rebuild quality cause I have never used one. But the power claim is far fetched to say the least on a otherwise "stock" motor

Hey Im all for it, I hope they make 400-500 on "75 horse" injectors and a stock turbo.

Just thinking of what mine could do on a dyno makes me hard !!!!

Not much of a review... They sure are pretty, but there not making 400hp.

The motor can be 500 capable, but the injectors and turbo make a 500 hp motor.
I mean with 238s and an h2e I have a 500 hp block...that is otherwise stock seasoned E99.
For a 500 you prob want head studs.

I would never want anything more than a long block not any of the accessories ie turbo injectors. I would not think most on here would either. You want to always be able to pick your own turbo hpop and injectors. The hp is at the crank according to anpost I read on fte that had talked with them. So that is 320 and 400 respectively at the rear wheels best case senario. That is at least much more reasonable.

I've got a proven, very low mileage, perfectly running in a truck right now, heavily built 600+ hp 7.3 I'd sell you in that range.

So where and what crate motor should a person buy?
Or where is a good rebuilder for a 400 hp motor?

I can tell ya 500HP is not easy to do.

I can tell ya 500HP is not easy to do.

Sure it is...open checkbook....add aditional creditcards, repeat as nessary. Lol

But wop, di , swaps all should have good long blocks.
And as tarm said add combo of your..ie turbo and injectors.

If all you are looking for is a 400 HP that will be utterly reliable. Got to any junk yard where you can pressure test a motor. Find the lower mileage 7.3 compression test it to ensure even cylinder to cylinder compression over 400 psi (450 ideal) Swap out the comp-cam springs shimmed to OEM spec, glow plugs, push rods, swap in ARP studs @ 125ftlb tq. Add a set of small hybrids 238/100, Stealth SP1, 38R/D66/QSSB/H2E and you have a guaranteed 450 HP. In fact with this setup you can tune it anywhere from stock 200 hp to 475 HP. Your total cost $1000 for the motor if you shop around. $1800 Injectors, $300 springs and push rods, $1000-$2000 Turbo $500 Studs.

Total $4600-$5600 and that has better quaitly parts and extra these reman do not have. Fact is in stock forum these motors just do not wear in the short block much at all. Sure you get some head valve train wear but even there plenty are holding good compression to the 300K range. Hence got good even compression will give you a very good indicator of the wear and health there.

Honestly with a motor out of the truck if you can change your brakes gap spark plugs etc you should be able to bolt on all the accessories etc with little grief.

To get a fully built long block from the vendors here is running you 15K and up. Then add in the $5K up for the air fuel etc.

if they are guaranteeing 400 and 500 make sure to cover your ass and get a document stating what they will do once you dyno it and those numbers arent even close. they dont even state the components in the engine.. why? because anybody who has a 7.3 or deals with them will be able to call BS. I have 2001 and im turning 362hp and plenty mods but no nos or propane straight pump fuel

Just buy the black mamba and stack a banks with an edge. That'll net you at least 550.
