AE doesn't like OBS

I can't get my Auto Enginuity to work at all with any OBS truck. I have car-code.com software also and it works with them, but the Auto E won't. I've used the Auto E on Super Dutys just fine.

Are you selecting powerstroke as the connection type?

I got it figured out after talking to Dennis, I had some connection configurations that needed changed.

Mine used to be hit and miss. Someone was not very gentle when plugging in a scan tool connection was kinda loose.

OBS prefers to be locked to "Non-OBDII" and "J1850PWM"

Is that in the newer versions of AE?

Yes. "Non-OBD II" replaced the "Ford Powerstroke" option in the init type because they found other vehicles that don't respond correctly to standard OBDII (per the spec) commands.

Is there a way to recheck DTCs after you clear them without disconnecting and reconnecting to the vehicle??

Yes, there is a refresh button. Looks like 2 green arrows pointing in a circle.

What is the best scanner for these trucks?

A lot of us use Auto Enginuity or the Aeroforce gauges have some pretty good features too. A small search should get you plenty to read up on.

In School(UNOH) we used pretty much every scantool currently used. IMHO, I heard all the hype about Auto E, but it hasn't impressed me enough to think that it would blow anything else out of the water.

It is good for doing what everything else does and cheaper. It looks alot better and is more user friendly that the Car-code.com software. I would still buy it again if I were to start over.

Yeah, I use AE, I like it (seems very user friendly), and it worked fine on my 1995 OBS without any problems.

The Damn thing keeps disconneting from my '97 when I'm trying to use it now!!! It will connect sometimes then about the time I start to hit 'record' all the data zeros out.
