Donzimama build, Pt 2

What a slow week eating away day by day as parts trickle in the mail like christmas packages on Xmas morning. Will be tearing the truck down over the weekend and doing a few things...
Going to be switching the cold side plastic ic pipe to solid aluminum
Warren Diesel 225 150s
Bullseye Billet batmowheel s366 with a 68 turbine and a .88 open housing
Turbonetics s300 pedestal and t4 vband adapter (thanks again to Rudys and tubonetics, couldn't do this without you)
Air dog 2
Regulated return
Coolant byPass
Going to do a retourque on ol trusty arps

Got a full parts room and a lot in the mail on the way, will get some batmowheel pics later this week....have some very conservative tuning ob the way to help maintain as much icp as possible...

Cant wait to get started.... Will have many updates to come in the next week.

Should have did 100% nozzles you will be lucky to hold 2500psi oil pressure with 150 nozzles
A good injector with the piston cut down and 150% nozzle will flow around 285cc on the bench
They will be good nitrous sticks

I was told that the only way to get the batmowheel is that you have to buy the turbo. They don't sell just the wheel.

Every time I see that wheel first thing that comes to mind is a turbo that has ingested too much dirt for too long! Looks great, can't wait to see how it works out!

Iirc the 650hp pull was with 315s.things have come aways since then with tuning and stuff.

.88 Is the smallest they have , .91 is the smallest divided, yea non wastegated, the gated ones are 500 more.

Just test drove. Will make 10psi at 1/4 throttle. Super quiet. Love the hair dryer delete. It sounds nasty. Pix and vid shortly. Definitely not as laggy as I thought with 190s...

It's got to be the most streetable 66 around..hard to get under it, comes right up, in x race it will chug pretty good when it catches low gear around 45-48, quarter throttle will smoke but it will come up. The truck is so much quieter running, less going on it seems. You don't hear this turbo at all until it passes 10 psi and it's still a quiet whistle.

Headed to the beach for a king mackerel SKA tournament on the real donzimama. Injectors to commence Sunday night lmao. Seriously though.

Record some temps on your trip. And get a vid of this thing runnin on the street if you can.

What are your egts in OD at 60? and what size tires and stall are running?

Stock tranny and converter. I like the street tune better so it doesn't lock as early and helps with boost. The turbo needs more fuel, but a 62 or 64 /68 with 190s would be unbelievable, I'll be in the ocean the next two days trying to catch a big king to pay for my tranny ;)

is it just me or is the factory boost gauge not reading either?

I've been wondering the same thing, it reads boost but not past 30, where does it read from?

That is normal. alot of trucks wont read past 29. both of my trucks do it. Factory gauge and the edge stops at 29 and the aftermarket boost gauge reads 58psi :doh:

So a mechanical gauge is needed. If anyone has a quad pod pm me

yeah i've been hearing some trucks boost readings vary. But my old insight and the new insight CS i have read exactly the same as my analog gauge. I decided to check the readings one day to see if they were different, but ended up being the same.

My factory boost gauge reads to about 32psi or so. When I data log with my SCT. it reads about 36psi. So I really have no idea what boost numbers I am seeing.

225 150s are in, they work, and I'm coming for every one of you haters ;)

i know with it being a 66mm turbo, it will spool a bit slower than the smaller ones. But i thought this bullseye 66 with the batmowheel should spool faster than a 64 at least. My 64 spools and starts to make boost at 1700.

i doubt it would spool faster than a 64. he also is probably reading off the stock tach and its not all that accurate lol. mine says 2k but the edge says 1700 or so. i honestly havent noticed a billet wheel spooling faster than a cast wheel. either way i am excited for donzi and cant wait for some vids. i need to put my airdog on too lol. i got it in the beginning of the year and its just sitting in my clean room in the box.

Just got a spare motor....... Heads going to machine shop to be decked and checked, might do a little port and polish while they're there if they can be. Brought back Into spec., intake might go with it, got a hose and fitting place building a regulated return out of stainless for pennies compared to 600 bucks lol

600 bucks is worth the hassle. How they gonna make the banjo fittings ? also did you map out the lines ? to be bent a certain way ?

Got some stock fuel lines to use the fitting, hose shop is gonna use my spare motor to run the lines as mock up said 50 bucks tops back to the regulator.

you can actually make your own RR fairly cheap. Just get some fittings and line from summit.

Yeah I ended up getting two extra banjo fittings from stock fuel lines going to have custom stainless made.

Been down that route JJ, hope you have better luck, tried a couple different thing didn't work out for me. Driver side front is the worse one to get to.

I'm building it off my spare motor as a Mach up from the heads to the regulator, I'll let you know how it goes .

Ran pretty good at the track. I have some vids of it running somewhere lol. Ran 10s and did 1097hp on two small stages of spray. I didnt really enjoy street driving it but i used a 74mm turbine wheel with it. I ran 260cc hybrids with 100% nozzles.

yup that was in my race truck. i like the setup i had on my orange truck way better for street strip but it didnt drive all that bad. race truck didnt have a pyro either though hahaha.

Regulated return is finished as soon as the return from the regulator line comes back from the hose shop Monday. Will have it installed by the end of the week. My RR build is over on the A for those wondering what happened to the thread. Looking like I am going to try to dyno July 16 up at the nhrda event at VMP.

blew out the bellows in the uppipes yesterday, if anyone has a spare set of uppipes pm me....reg return is finished, should be on this week pending me finding uppipes..

Just buy some new bellows and weld them on your up pipes... them stock ones are junk anyways

Primed the fuel system last night with the stock pump to check for leaks. Tonight its on :rockon: I have got the A1000 pump and mount put together all i gotta do is install it, its going to use you factory mounting bracket so no extra holes. got the last fitting today at lunch. My only concern is getting ALL THAT #### BACK TOGTHER befor i pass out for lack off sleep lol :drool:

Big thanks to James perry for being the guinea pig mechanic on the install of the regulated return and helping me out bigtime. Will have some vids tomorrow gonna take it to Rudys Monday for dyno and fun.

HMMM, wierd cause guys that want more oil are switching to the '05-07 pumps and oil rail system. For example, Shawn Ellerton converted his '03 to the newer '05 pump and oil system and has made over 1000+ HP with that stock pump and oil system.

Yes I've read that also. It's a t-1000 I'm going to be beta testing from T.E. , dyno Baseline and icp readings before and after. He's only doing the 03-04 style as of now.

69psi is not high. between 71 and 65 is the best area to be in. Once you get above that, then it begins to be come too high of pressure.

No point in running 70psi though, I only run 60psi and its more than enough

Oil rails are different on the '03s... They are a straight log, instead of the wavey rail.
60 Psi is tons for fuel pressure...long as you have the volume behind it.

You're gonna have to swap the branch tube to do the conversion which includes pulling the rear cover. The 03's don't flow as much oil. The issue with pressure is not the rails but the spool valves.
